How does this work (is this a trick?)

The Wireless Charging Station comes with a very slim wireless receiver, that you attach to the back of your phone after plugging it into the charging port. It is virtually invisible which is why you can't see it clearly in the video! The wireless receiver is included for FREE with your purchase of the Wireless Charging Station.

Do I have to remove my existing iPhone Case?

No, you do not have to remove your iPhone Case for this to work. Most iPhone cases that are sold in the market nowadays have a slim back. The Wireless Charging Station will work with these iPhone cases. It will work with most Lifeproof and Otterback cases, except those that are thicker than normal cases.
